Who's going to win tonight?
I have a task ready that will keep my fingers busy... instead of reaching for Super Snacks I'll be reaching for my favorite Clover seam ripper.
Yes, it is time to "Rip Rip" Christmas Strings for another go at quilting. I last posted about this UFO HERE on January 28, 2014 but I'll share one picture from that post to show you the ripple effect. Trust me, it looks 10X worse in real life. Apparently my fleece backing - you can see a bit of it on the left edge of the picture above - was stretchier than the fleece I normally use.
Here is a picture of the top from my UFO Collection Tab. It's far too pretty to leave it in a state of HOT MESS. Rip Rip!
I had planned to unpick this during the Olympics last winter but it didn't happen. In fact I haven't touched it since. Tonight's the night.
Our crockpot is cooking up some spicy turkey chili and now I have the rest of the afternoon to do some sewing and contemplate my goals for February. Rip Rip! I'm linking up to Slow Sunday (UN) Stitching@Kathy's Quilts.
I've always loved to make things. Join me while I reboot my creativity, create a new quilting room and tackle LOTS of unfinished projects.
What a frustration. Good luck with your unstitiching.
ReplyDeleteYou're right - the top is way too pretty to leave unfinished. The un-sewing will be a big job but probably perfect for Super Bowl watching. I spent the whole morning and most of the afternoon in my sewing room today while the hubbie worked on a client project. It was a productive day, and I'm going to do a little hand quilting while watching the game.
ReplyDeleteThat is a lovely quilt! Good for you taking the time to get it right!
ReplyDeleteOh and... Go Pats!!
Froggy is a'comin' to my house soon, too. An old quilt to be ribbited...hugs, Julierose
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the unstitching today.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the ripping I am sure it will be worth it in the end. Have fun watching the game!
ReplyDeletePretty quilt but ugh to ribit, ribit! I just picked out one block I quilted thankfully not the whole thing. Have a great Sunday.
ReplyDeleteNo fun unpicking! But the quilt is really too lovely not to save it! I have never tried fleece for backing sounds cozy.
ReplyDeleteI would have done the same thing. Lovely quilt with so many wonderful Christmas material.
ReplyDeleteSome times un stitching can be just as satisfying as sewing.
ReplyDeleteHappy frogging! Rip-it! ;) You will be much happier once it is fixed.
ReplyDeleteUnpicking is no fun! But this quilt is very pretty, so well worth saving.
ReplyDeleteoh no! seam ripping is the worst. I hope you got a lot done so it can be behind you. Better luck on your next try quilting this beautiful quilt.
ReplyDeleteRipping isn't all bad - the results are usually SOO much better. Your string top is just beautiful!
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to hear that you're unstitching today. But you will be happier in the end if you really love your quilting. A little bit each Sunday and you'll be done before you know it!
ReplyDeleteThe frogging is going to be worth it. It's a gorgeous looking top.
ReplyDeleteEww! Not a task I'd want to undertake but the flimsy is too pretty not to rip it out!
