Looking back I have mixed feelings about the month... it wasn't great & it wasn't bad. I always have a slow recovery from trips and even weekends away so I won't pretend to be surprised by some lazy days. Our son Micah was here for 3 weeks and then I spent several days adjusting to him being gone.
Even though I love setting goals I'm not one to go off the chain if my interests end up veering elsewhere. I read a ton in January and I have several recommendations including a 5 star book to share with you on my Tuesday Bibliophile Files post. 20+ books!
My Crossroads blocks from RSC13 made it to flimsy stage this month and I think they will be the perfect projects to ease me back into quilting again.
My Let's Book It project for January was this Bowtie quilt from a McCalls Quick & Scrappy Quilts book. I will be making these blocks each month for RSC15.
I also caught up with my blue UFOs from RSC14 and started some crumb/slab blocks for RSC15. It was a RSC (Rainbow Scrap Challenge) month you might say.
I would have loved a finish or two... but I'm sewing again which will lead to them. And, as a bonus, our really cold weather should be behind us and the days are getting longer. I'm really looking forward to being FOCUSED in February!
It's time to link up to Fresh Sewing Day@Lily's Quilts and be inspired by what other quilters have been working on this month.
I've always loved to make things. Join me while I reboot my creativity, create a new quilting room and tackle LOTS of unfinished projects.
The CrossRoad quilts are just wonderful! And the bowties are delightful. Using RSC15 to complete them will be a great help. All those crumb blocks! I think you had quite a productive month.
ReplyDeleteyour crossroads quilts are all so pretty. I go in streaks of finishing and then none for several months. Variety is the spice of life!
ReplyDeleteThe crossroads flimsies are great - warm and cool. And 4 of them is amazing. December seemed to be my month for lots of reading. January - not much reading for fun. I'm actually leading 2 online book studies for work so professional reading took over. I'm looking forward to hearing about your 5 star book. :-)
ReplyDeleteLove those crossroads quilt. Reading got in my way as well. I don't mind though because often it's the other way around. Love books and quilting both.
ReplyDeleteBusy RSC month for you. Thank you for blogging about your RSC13 blocks! I was stressing over not having my RSC14 blocks finished yet--now I don't feel so bad! Your 13 blocks will look great when they're finished! I like your crumb blocks too.
ReplyDeleteI loved seeing your crossroads tops side by side. And all your other progress. Every little bit adds up.
ReplyDeleteAh, those Crossroads quilts. I fall in love every time I see them. I would make some blocks but the lack of white in my collection of "Caring Hearts" fabrics plus not knowing how I would quilt them stops me!
ReplyDeleteGreat tops! The bow tie plan is a good one. A favorite that can do no wrong in any color.
ReplyDeleteYour Crossroads quilt reminds me of signature quilts in which people signed the white sections. I haven't seen one quite like this but definitely this would work! You've been pretty productive for someone who has also been doing a lot of reading!
ReplyDeleteYou have had a productive month. You will have lots of lovely rainbow quilts.
ReplyDeleteI love your crossroads block quilts!! I remember watching as you made each month's colors. I love seeing what you did with them. Was this a pattern? I wish now I had paid more attention when you were sewing them. I'd love to make some of my own. Thanks...
ReplyDeleteYou have a lot of beautiful works in process! I especially like your Crossroads quilt- lovely fabric choices.
ReplyDeleteI love the crossroads tops, they're so striking and colourful! Nice to see two colour variants, too. :)
ReplyDeleteBowtie blocks are very versatile! Love them :)
ReplyDeleteGood luck with your goals. You have a lot of lovely projects on the go.
ReplyDeleteLove your crumb/slab blocks. Those blues are very pretty! and yes... if we just keep sewing we will get to some finishes. Good luck.
