WIP Thursday

This post was intended for yesterday but the day got away from me. After a weekend full of football I'm making baby steps toward real progress in my quilting room.
But first I have to mention how thrilling it was to watch the NDSU Bison win their 4th straight FCS Division 1 Football Championship defeating Illinois State 29-27 on Saturday. WOW! It was a total nail biter as the Bison had to score a touchdown with less than 2 minutes to go for the win after leading for most of the game. Tom, Megan and I are all proud NDSU graduates!
And then, to top it off, we cheered THE Ohio State Buckeyes on to victory in the other National Championship title game against the University of Oregon (fixed!) in Monday night's 42-20 win. Megan's fiance Chris is currently attending Ohio State for a Masters in Health Administration degree. What a fun football weekend... if only our Minnesota Vikings were in the playoffs. Next year!
I spent my some of my football time sorting through various boxes of stuff that found a home in my quilting room during my days of no sewing. Then I looked through some books to get ideas for blocks to work on for RSC15 and settled on this scrappy layout using bowtie blocks.

And I pulled some charms from my bins to continue my ROYGBIV Chevron Quilt from RSC14. True Confession Time: the only row I finished last year was the Blue!
Continuing in the vein of unfinished RSC business I set up this UFO in my Quilting Notebook... my Crossroads blocks that were made for RSC13. I have enough blocks to make 4 quilts for Project Linus and I would love to finish 2 of them this month. You can find this handy Project Sheet at Pixels To Patchwork by clicking HERE.
2015 is the year I am actually going to USE them! I'll post more about my Quilting Notebook soon.

  1. Oh boy... I didn't know you were NDSU fans!! My husband and I are proud alumni of SDSU :) I ran track and XC against NDSU all the time! While it's hard for me to cheer for NDSU, it is always good to see teams in the area do well :) On the quilt topics, it always makes me feel better when I see others like to have a lot of projects going on at one time, too!

  2. These project sheets are so cool. I just had to download them right away and will have to try them out. Thanks for sharing such a clever tool. You are so organized.

Love those bow ties. I've used them a couple of times in different sizes and just love the way they look.

  3. Love your project sheets! What a good idea! I have been doing this quilting thing for three years now and, beyond my blog, I would love to have a catalog of projects. Something to think about....

  5. You DID have a fun football weekend! And, I did not know that your daughter's BF was in health admin. My youngest is in her last semester at Ohio University and her major is Health Service Admin. She is talking about going ahead for her Masters, but I don't know how serious she is about that. More student loans don't sound like fun to me!

  6. My husband watched the Bison game but I only saw the last quarter. Pretty exciting ending - just like how they beat SDSU. Of course being a loyal Jackrabbit that was kind of a bummer. But we have to root for our "local" teams when it comes to the championship.

  7. In the past when I haven't had time to sew, my craft room has become a dumping ground. I know what you mean when you say you had stuff to sort through. I have been enjoying these project sheets too.

  8. As a proud, native Oregonian, I have to set the record straight. Yes, Ohio State did beat us in the National Championship (grrr). But it played against University of Oregon NOT Oregon State University. Two totally different universities :)

  9. Going to check out those project sheets. I also was cheering for OSU - I am a Badger alum but wanted the Big Ten to win. Now you could cheer for the Packers on Sunday:) Looking forward to that game! Go Pack!

  12. I just love how bright and sunny your sewing room is...though I'm grateful to have such a large area....being in a basement isn't always bright. It was actually too big and we've been remodeling....and added a sitting area for family....so now it's not like im always in the basement alone. :)

  13. I had planned to make the same block all year for RSC but having made 20 blue crumb blocks as centres for Churn Dash blocks, I will have to rethink about something else that I can make with crumbs!
