Yet Another Snowy Monday

I've lost count of how many snow days and late start school days we have had this winter... today schools are closed again. This is the view from our kitchen window!
Spring is going to come late this year but I've got lots to do in the quilting room so I'm not going to complain too much. Yesterday I felt like assembling some tops so I pulled out some UFO blocks from my drawer and started laying them out.
I had some patriotic 2.5" strips left over from my Patriotic Squares quilt for Quilts of Valor so I had used EQ to design a simple 9 Patch quilt. I don't know what it is about 9 Patches exactly but they are one of my favorite blocks. The string blocks are from an HGTV Quilting Forum Swap, I had requested shades of blue for the center strip and bright gender neutral colors. It's always fun to play around with bright strings on a grey day!
On Saturday I finished quilting this wall quilt which is one of my March Goals. I think I have more of the cream star print for the binding, I don't recall the name of this pretty fabric line so I'm hoping I'll find it on the selvage. The pattern is "Little Charmers II" by Anka's Treasures.

I'm linking up to Let's Get Acquainted@Busy Bee Quilts and Design Wall Monday@Patchwork Times.

  1. it's a good thing you got projects to keep you busy because by the looks of it you might get trapped in your house with all that snow. I won't rub in that it was 77 here on Saturday in Sunny NC. Love the progress that you are making on those UFO's

  2. I'm so glad this latest blizzard missed us. But it was not by much. We drove home from our granddaughter's birthday party last night - in and out of light snow, heavy snow, freezing rain, rain and finally dry roads the last 3 miles. Weird weather.

You have picked some great bright projects for such a grey day. Love those 9 patch patriotic blocks.

  3. Boy can I relate. We have been getting so much snow here too! Good thing you have plenty of UFO's to help keep you busy! LOL

  4. Snow here, too! Enough already!
It's always satisfying to see how basic blocks, like nine-patches, can turn into such attractive quilts.

  5. whoa! that is a lot of snow. we have a cold rain today. Your projects make it feel like spring anyway.

  6. You have nice sunny quilts for a snowy day! I especially like your stars :)

  7. oooo That's a lot of snow, yep. Ours is almost melted away finally. Supposed to get some more later this week, but shouldn't accumulate like what you've got here. Thank goodness for quilt work at such times, eh? :)

  8. Oh, my! Where are you located?
Those string blocks should brighten your day! Fun!

  9. We lucked out on this latest storm (only a couple new inches of snow), but you certainly got hit this time. I've come to detest all the winter forecasts with the fronts, the whiteouts, and the dreaded Alberta Clippers. Enough cold, snow, and winter in general.
    Great progress on your UFOs!

  10. Oh my! So much snow! We don't have any so I can't imagine living with it! You're being very productive with the "extra" winter!

  11. Holy cow that is a lot of snow! Wish we had some that amounted to anything here instead of it just being cold and muddy.

Way to go working on those UFOs. I could use some of that mojo!

    Thanks for linking up:)
