I couldn't resist creating one more seasonal version of the Everyday Table Topper from the book "Charmed and Dangerous" by Anka's Treasures. My Christmas/Winter topper is made from Basic Grey's gorgeous Blitzen collection. I so love the color palette of this line with the cool sage and mint prints against the deep reds.
The snowmen prints caught my eye right away so I featured them when I laid out the charms.
Simple walking foot quilting with white Auriful was my choice to show off the pretty fabrics and I had a fat quarter of the ornate grey & mint print which I used for the binding.Had I made this when the line was current I would surely have invested in more of it! Maybe I will still be able to pick up a few of my favorite prints (like the snowmen on red above) online.
On a random note... I had no idea that the markings on a cat extend to their skin. Elsa gave full consent to this tasteful belly shot although she is definitely giving me a "just take one and make it quick" look. We have had 1 black female cat followed by 3 male Siamese so this is news to me.
She also has longer fur than we are used to and it is so soft and fluffy. Yesterday I couldn't grab my camera quick enough to take a picture of the 2.5" fabric square that was attached via static cling to her tail. She had no idea it was there!
Love that Christmas version too. I made my 2 oldest grandkids pillowcases for Christmas using the grey snowmen fabric. I can look and see if there is any left.
ReplyDeleteOur cat is finally getting back to that long hair fluffy stage after his shearing last fall. He also gets fabric clinging occasionally. He is a black and white tuxedo cat, and looked all grey at the skin and his undercoat is dark grey too. Elsa is just the prettiest cat.
You are moving right along with your seasonal items.
ReplyDeleteI love lines too, but then am always disappointed when I go to use it and it's no longer available. I love Basic Grey's blenders for this reason, they always seem to match and stay around a lot longer and they work with so many of their lines. I have two different light grey with light teal blenders that are awesome. I love your table toppers. Such a fun pattern.
ReplyDeleteLove the table toppers! Some of my favorite designers, though, so of course I do.
ReplyDeleteI noticed the same thing with CC! Both my boys are solid colors, so I didn't notice on them, but Miss CC has a mixed belly and yup, the markings are on her skin, too. She also has a mix of black and pink paw pads.
Your table toppers are really pretty!
ReplyDeleteAnd your model is a gorgeous kitty! That must've been funny seeing the fabric sticking to her luxurious fur!!
Susie
What fun to see this pattern in 3 different seasonal colorways! I LOVE it!
ReplyDeleteI've had some "fluffy" kitties but never had fabric bits attached to them by statis. It must have been hilarious. Oh and I LOVE how their marks extend to their skin..I've had several tabbies. I don't think either of my BW cats have had black on their skin - will have to check when I get home...enquiring minds want to know!
ReplyDelete=^..^=
I really....really like all three of these table toppers! Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful cat! I didn't know the markings were on the skin either. Wonder if my cat will let me comb through his fur and find out about his.
ReplyDeleteelsa is such a pretty kitty. and good company. enjoy seeing your progress.
ReplyDeleteall three toppers are so pretty. now you are ready for the different holidays.
ReplyDeleteHey! Look at that! Awesome!
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful! I love Blitzen! July 4th table topper next?
ReplyDeleteI love these little table toppers. What a great idea to make a collection!! Gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love seeing the same pattern done in different colorways.
ReplyDeleteGreat collection!
Great quilts. How do you find quilting w the co.nnecting threads thread? My machine doesn't seem to like it.
ReplyDeleteI had a tabby cat whose paw pads were different colours too :). Your cat is a darling.
Love the table topper. Nice fabric choices.
ReplyDeleteI love those quilts. Great pattern and great fabric choices xx
ReplyDeleteI love this winter/snowman version Table quilt.
ReplyDeleteIt turned out wonderful!
Oh Deb I just love your table toppers!!! You're right - that fabric is fabulous and perfect for the season! Elsa is such a little beauty :) Gypsy has long hair like that and the coloring is in her skin too. Her sister Sable used to get so matted that we had to have her shaved with a "Lion" cut every summer - close to her skin, but leaving fun on her head, feet and tail. She looked so darn CUTE!!! The first time we had it shaved, she was ashamed and hid for 2 days. But then we made such a big deal over it and praised her so much, that she began to feel pretty and would prance around as if to say, "Look at how beautiful I am!" Ahhhhh, we miss her so, such a sweet little girl *sigh*
ReplyDeleteI love how the same pattern can look so different when done in "other" fabrics.
ReplyDeleteI had no idea that cat's skin was patterned too!
