March Madness!

Woo Hoo! I love this...
which is very random if you consider that I don't follow College Basketball one bit during the season. If my husband has a Minnesota Gophers game on I'll keep him company while I do some hand work or read, but I don't really care if they win or lose. I'm not a fan of the NBA either.

But the NCAA Tournament is one of my favorite things. I've been thinking about why I enjoy it so much and have come up with the following reasons:
  • It's usually exciting with close finishes and upsets.
  • I love being in tournament pools & following my brackets even though I do no research and make my picks in about 10 minutes.
  • There is almost always a Cinderella story (a team that comes out of nowhere) and I root for them like crazy.
  • You get to know the teams and coaches quickly because of the tournament format, so even though I don't know many of this morning by the time the Final Four rolls around I'll know them well.
  • Charles Barkley is hilarious.
  • After the NFL season is over (sad face) this is the next best thing.
  • It comes at a time in MN when I am sick & tired of snow and by the time it's over spring is that much closer.
  • It's the perfect excuse to stay inside and be lazy.
Actually this tournament I have my Embroidery Blog Hop project to work on during the games this week and I will also be organizing/folding some fabric while watching so I won't be lazy ALL of the time. I especially love being to able to flip around 4 channels and catch all the great finishes!

  1. I do love college basketball so this time of year is fun. You can cheer for the South Dakota State University Jackrabbits tonight (men) and Saturday (women). SDSU is my alma mater. The women have made the NCAA tourny before but for the men this is their first appearance. Very exciting!

Unfortunately I can probably watch it snow again this evening while watching basketball. And I'm really sick of the snow this year too.

  2. We are big March Madness fans around here. Our Ohio State Buckeyes are generally in the tournament, and usually for a long time. It's fun when your team is in the thick of things. I like that the Big 10 Conference is so well-represented. We are a good conference! I hope all the teams go deep into the tourney. Happy stitching! I have some hand-quilting that I will work on.

  3. I was going to make almost the same comment Sara made. SDSU is my alma mater too and both the men and women are playing. Tonight the game is on CBS at 6:15 CT and I can't wait to cheer on my Jacks! Although we are not getting any snow, which is a plus.

  4. I'm like you--this is the only time I even like basketball! And I agree with every point you made, well, except for the next to the last one about MN and snow, because I'm here in California and complaining about the opposite--it's too early to be this warm! I should probably keep that to myself, huh?

  5. I can't tolerate the NBA, but I enjoy college hoops now and then. I'm with you in the calendar watching. When the NCAA tourney is over, spring should be here, or at least just around the corner.
I HATE DIRTY SNOW !!! The pretty stuff, in small amounts, is OK, but with the big snowfalls we've had this winter, I'm disgusted with the dirty, partly melted, crunchy-looking snow piles still sitting here and there.
