Design Wall Monday + Wool

My design wall has a new element today as I did some yellow sewing over the weekend. This ROYGBIV Chevron quilt was started last year for RSC14 but sadly the only strip I did was the blue so I'll be adding the other colors as they come up this year. I love blocks made from HSTs even though it can be a challenge to get those joins nice and crisp. Like all things... practice makes closer to perfect or good enough for me!
I also have sewn my blocks for Picnic in Serenade together into rows. Now they will sit awhile until I get some quilting done. I like having something to admire on the wall while I'm quilting tops.

Elsa loves the windows in my quilting room - especially on breezy days like today when she can see lots of movement in the woods. Our snow is starting to disappear around the house foundation which is a sure sign of warmer weather at last.
Toward the end of last week I was feeling like a change of pace and started this scarf. I love this pattern because all of the "tricky" knitting is done in one row and the other 7 are easy peasy!
This is how it looks today. I was excited to finally reach the teal part of this colorway. And I will add that Elsa finds knitting to be fantastic playtime. If you look closely at the picture above you can see her furry self in the top right corner. She is all over me when the needles come out.
Needless to say I won't be leaving this project laying out unattended! I'm linking up a day late to Wool on Sundays@Rainbow Hare.

  4. Beautiful scarf and the cat loves it, too. She looks quite happy sitting in the window enjoying the sun and scenery. As for the design wall, you have too many projects going! I'd be overwhelmed thinking what to do next! But they are pretty! What is the name of the block on the quilt to the left? I don't think I've seen it before.

  5. Pretty scarf! No sewing for me - basketball instead. NDSU men against Oral Roberts. A respectable Bison crowd here tonight.

  6. Aw how adorable! Gypsy used to love to sit on my lap when I knitted. She loved to watch the needles move and would occasionally grab at one of them with her teeth. But mostly she was too old to get too excited :*) Your design wall is an amazing array of color & design - love it!!! And the colors in your scarf are right up my alley *smile*

  9. Your blog is such a UFO inspiration! I sandwiched 4 quilts this week (the part of quilting I DREAD!). Thank you for the posts and pictures that spurned me closer to finished quilts!

  10. oh I love seeing Elsa. She is so beautiful. The scarf is so pretty. Wonder if I could make one? Will you write to me and tell me the pattern and how hard it is? I knit socks but they are easy.

  12. I agree with Elsa - the view out your window looks lovely. I love that scarf - colours and pattern. What is the pattern you are using? It is always good to have some simple but super effective patterns.

  13. Rosemary B here:
I like your design wall. It looks great. I love the star blocks on the right. I am finishing a very colorful quilt top with that design.
My kittyboys love windy days too. Now the birds are starting to come back and make noise, so it is a festival of stimulation out there.
    Your knitting is beautiful.

  14. So much fun stuff on your blog this past week!! I love the scarf, and it makes me smile to read anything "easy peasy" describing knitting, as I have never, ever been able to get my fingers to do it! Crochet - no problem whatsoever with the trickiest stuff, but knitting: No. :D Love all those projects on the design wall, and the post-it board in an earlier post looks terrific.
