Not a Lot of Teal

July's color for RSC13 is teal - a color that I love but evidently don't quilt with a lot as I have very little in my scrap stash. As I was pondering this earlier in the week I remembered that I have a UFO in my Collection that has quite a bit of teal in it. Moving a UFO closer to the Finish Line is always a good thing!
So I pulled it out and made 2 more sets of blocks which pretty much wiped out the 2.5" strips I had pulled for this project some time ago. I'll have to dig through my strip drawers and see if I have enough to make one more row of blocks this week. After I add a border I'll have a nice sized older girl quilt for Project Linus.
Then I can cut the leftover ends into bricks and make a few Crossroads blocks. I really do love teal and brown together!

We are off to a family wedding this weekend... my youngest cousin is getting married and I'm really looking forward to it. I think he was about 4 when I was the 1st of the cousins to get married 29 years ago... crazy! Then tomorrow we are going to Meet the Parents - our daughter has been dating a wonderful guy for about 18 months and it's finally working out to meet his family. Talk about a great weekend filled with family old and new!

I'm linking up to ScrapHappy Saturday@soscrappy and Scrap Basket Sunday@Kim's Big Quilting Adventure.

  5. Tucker approves of the color choice. Those blocks will make a really pretty quilt. I don't think I have much teal in my stash anymore, but my very first quilt top has lots of teal. It was the 1980s - what can I say? A couple of years ago I took off the lace edge I put on it and planned to put a new plain binding on. So your blocks have reminded me to dig out that long neglected quilt and find something to use as binding.

  6. Oh, I love your framed 4 patches and it really will make a lovely quilt for an older girl. I never thought of teal and brown together either but that is an excellent combo. I'll have to try that.

  10. I like your teal UFO - very fresh looking. I agree with you on teal and brown - great combo! And who is your feline helper? I see from the other comments he (she?) is Tucker...I have never had a full bred Siamese, but several Siamese-mix cats - love their voices and personalities!

(hugs) This was alot of fun and I love your quilts - they are all beautiful and you are doing fantastic on your goals!! I had the same one, to finish alot of my on-going projects this year..... uh, I seem to be having more fun adding to the pile instead of making it smaller so, well, there is always next year!! Or I could just re-start now and play catch up!! lol! Thanks for the inspiration, the beauty and a very nice way to spend some time on a Sunday. Time well spent I must add. Thank-You!! Brenda!|!
