Shabby Strings is Finished!

I put the last stitches on the binding for Shabby Strings this afternoon and hurried outside to take some pictures. How nice it is to have the lawn ready for quilt photos!
The blocks for this quilt are from a swap with two online friends from the HGTV Quilting Forum. We discovered that we shared a love for shabby chic fabrics and agreed to cut into our stashes and exchange string blocks in 2007/2008.
There are so many of my favorite Robyn Pandolph and 3 Sisters fabrics in these blocks.
We had very few fabrics that overlapped between the 3 of us, which makes the quilt super scrappy.
And, we each had our own way of using colors that makes this quilt really stand out. It's easy for me to look at the quilt and identify who made which blocks and the quilt would never have been this beautiful without the mix of blocks.
It was professionally quilted in March.
Shabby Strings measures 56" by 68" for a perfect lap size cuddle quilt.
This is my May finish for A Lovely Year of Finishes and I'm so happy to link it up! I am also entering in into The Festival of Strings by Rachel@Stitched in Color and linking up at Shabbilicious Friday@Shabby Art Boutique.

  9. I love this. I believe that quilts like yours that come from many hands truly have a special quality. Maybe it's all the creative energy from the diverse quilters that are part of the process.

  11. What a fantastic quilt. Until I read your post I thought it was all from your stash, and figured you must have the most marvelous stash of shabby chic fabrics imaginable. What a wonderful way for the three of you create these quilts - spreading the wealth around so to speak. How lucky for the three of you that you found each other at the appropriate time. This quilt will bring back such great memories whenever you see it.

  12. I love this quilt that is unabashedly feminine and a roaring good success! I love the dainty little lavender that you chose for the binding, for, as I recall, the mixed up backing on this does have some purple overtones. What a perfect way to make everything work to your advantage! Good job!

  16. Wonderful finish! I love the unrestrained scrappiness but how keeping the fabrics all in the same family makes it work. I popped in from the Festival of Strings page.
