Sunday Scraps and Stash
I did a fair amount of scrappy sewing this week finishing up blocks for a WIP and a UFO.
I started this scrappy Strip Stacks (pattern by G.E. Designs) last winter after making one in blues and browns. I really like this pattern and can see using it often. There are a lot of "not so pretty" fabrics in these blocks - but the unique layout makes them look great (in my humble opinion).
This super scrappy quilt using 2" squares is called Arkansas Crossing from the book "Quilts from the Heart" by Karin Renaud. It will have a narrow inner border of the white fabric added and then I'll have to audition some outer border fabrics. I ended up with lots of extra 4 patch blocks so I'll be doing this one again someday.
A yummy chartreuse package of goodies arrived a few weeks ago that I haven't shared here yet... I just love seeing that color appear on my doorstep!
Hancocks of Paducah was having a big clearance on Moda so I took the opportunity to add some more Paris Flea Market fabrics to my stash - a fat quarter bundle and some background roses yardage.
I also jumped at the chance to add some Noteworthy by Sweetwater yardage to my stash at 50% off.
This print is so fun! I'm thinking pillows or a table runner with a piano key border.
And these pretties from various Moda lines too.
When the UFOs are under control I will have PLENTY of new projects to choose from!

I love that Noteworthy print! So far, I've been good and kept from buying it, but it's difficult to show restraint! Lovely adds! :)

ReplyDeleteI just love your scrappy quilts! They are my favorite kinds of quilts and yours are so successful. You've done a wonderful job on both. I have seen the quilt Strip Stacks before but I can't find the pattern. Do you have a link or the name of the book where you found it? I'd love to make one, too.

Those scrappy quilts are fantastic. Wow! Wish I had taken a photo of a scrappy quilt I saw yesterday at our guild meeting. One members had used half-square-triangles from an exchange done a few years ago and made a star quilt. I'm always blown away by how amazing most scrappy quilts end of looking.

ReplyDeleteWow! You have really been busy! I still am partial to scrappy quilts and these two really finish well. The first is my fave but my scraps would work a bit better with the smaller squares. Hugs.......

ReplyDeleteHancock's of Paducah is a VERY dangerous website for me, so I stay away from it as much as I can. Your lovely purchases are making me itch to head over there, but I'm being a good girl. Sales are my downfall, and I really need to ignore that word as much as possible. My brain seems to think that "sale" means "Order a box full."
All the pretty projects, so scrappy...makes me smile.

I agree with you. The Strip Stacks is wonderful and I can see that it is a good pattern to help get rid of any not so wonderful fabrics!! Grin Think I need to get that pattern.
